Introduction

The current status of the textile industry shows a significant decrease in the traditional areas, the flexibility of former traditional producers has become essential for their ´survival´ in the market and the majority of current regional textile SMEs cannot afford competitive R&D departments to find new smart solutions.

TeTRInno SMARTEX aims to support regional textile SMEs that have to compete with cheaper production from abroad by bringing knowledge and practical solutions in smart fabrics and interactive textiles (SFIT). These companies can utilize new ideas from the subproject to increase the added value on their production.

Activities and expected results:

TeTRInno SMARTEX is a one-year subproject supporting technological transfers of innovative smart fabrics and interactive textiles to small and medium sized enterprises (SME) of Southwest Bohemia, Lombardy and Catalonia . The majority of current regional textile SMEs cannot afford competitive R&D departments. TeTRInno SMARTEX tries to bring knowledge and practical solutions in smart fabrics and interactive textiles (SFIT) to the European textile SMEs.

TeTRInno SMARTEX gathers technologies developed by each member of the consortium; electronics and medical - Lombardy, smart fabrics applied in automotive industry and medicine – South-West Bohemia as well as luminescent and chromic materials, Catalonia .

Who and how can utilize the results of the TeTRInno SMARTEX subproject?

TeTRInno SMARTEX supports regional textile companies which have to compete with cheaper production from abroad. They can utilize a lot of new ideas from the subproject to take their production to a sphere with higher value added.

Moreover, TeTRInno SMARTEX supports the creation of a continuous multidisciplinary scientific pole of applied research and technological transfer for a durable impulse of productivity in textile companies.

Obtained results The state of development and innovation in the field of Smart Fabrics and Interactive Textiles (SFIT) has been studied and technologies developed by each member of the consortium have been gathered. This has been composed into an article that is published on the webpage,              www.mateo.ntc.zcu.cz/index.php, and in a scientific review. Know-how and concrete solutions have been exchanged through a data processing network. A TeTRInno SMARTEX catalogue has been composed containing the most viable solutions.
