The main goal of MATEO is to develop and execute subprojects that stimulate regional innovation through close cooperation between entities from the four European regions involved in the project: Catalonia (Spain; represented by CIDEM), Noord-Brabant (the Netherlands; represented by the Province of North Brabant, N.V. BOM and Syntens), Lombardy (Italy; supported by CESTEC) and South-West Bohemia (Czech Republic; represented by RERA).
The aim is to not just interchange theoretical knowledge on best practices in the field of innovation, but to conduct concrete technology and/or sector-oriented subprojects that bring together actors from various regions in order to jointly generate industrial activity out of RTD (Research and Technology Development) knowledge. The overall objective of MATEO is to develop new knowledge-intensive industrial activities and stimulate the knowledge-intensiveness of existing ones.
MATEO is targeting 8 thematic areas, of which 4 key sectors: functional food, pharma and medical technology, aerospace and renewable energy and 4 key technologies: biotechnology, advanced materials, mechatronics, process and production technologies that are to be stimulated in the four regions.
The subprojects will be focussed on these thematic areas and will involve relevant entitities such as research centres, innovative SME's, technostarters and incubators. MATEO has organised an interregional brokerage event involving different experts in these sectors and technologies that will be used to match organisations from different regions interested in participating in subprojects.
