Introduction
Students have difficulties to put theory into practice, while the industry encounters problems in applying research. This results in a gap between local companies, research centres and students.
The cooperation in the subproject Industrial Controllers will be based on exchange of ideas and experiences mainly in the field of interactive design and automatic tuning of robust controllers, model predictive control systems, control of piecewise linear and hybrid systems and other advanced control techniques.
Activities:
- To discover MATEO regions participants´ potential and interest
to formulate and solve difficult problems of modern control systems.
The cooperation is based on ideas and experiences exchange mainly
in the field of interactive design and automatic tuning of robust
controllers, model predictive control systems, control of piecewise
linear and hybrid systems and other advanced control techniques.
- To create a proposal of connected virtual and remote laboratories
based on industrial standards that will help the practitioners and
students to bridge the gap between theory and practice and to share
newly developed software/hardware tools and algorithms.
Expected results:
The subproject, developed in collaboration with partners in the Czech
Republic ( University of West Bohemia in Pilsen), Netherlands (TU/e)
and Catalonia (Politechnical University of Catalonia, ASCAMM Technology
Centre) will start international cooperation in the above mentioned
fields. The additional aim is to create the database of potential partners
from the industrial sphere and a list of tried and tested technologies
prepared for transfer into industry that will help to lessen problems
from industry for applied research. The sustainability will be ensured
by subsequential projects.

Who and how can utilize the results of the Industrial controllers
subproject?
The beneficiaries of Industrial Controllers will be the
domestic and foreign companies based locally (mostly SMEs) which in
the respective partner regions ( Catalonia , South-West Bohemia and
North Brabant ), develop technologies, especially in the fields of
process and machine control, mechatronics, compact controllers and
PLC's.
What competitive advantage does the Industrial controllers
subproject offer?
The subproject will help to bridge the gap between local companies,
research centres and students. All three parties will benefit from
sharing regional knowledge and excellence mainly through virtual and
remote control labs. The companies can also take advantage of using
unique control algorithms, rapid prototyping and remote access tools
that can speed up the product development and create solutions with
higher quality.
Obtained results
This project created the opportunity for an interregional exchange of the progressive and advanced control algorithms and embedded control platforms. The participants continued in the development of advanced control strategies and perspective platforms for virtual en remote control labs were investigated. A close collaboration between Industrial Controllers and Mechatronics (both MATEO subprojects) resulted from the workshop, Sumava, of this subproject.
More details about the results can be found on the webpage, www.industrialcontrollers.eu, it will continue on publishing new participants´ results in automation and embedded control area. |
